UHC2030 is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr Magda Robalo and Dr Pamela Cipriano as the new co-chairs of the UHC2030 Steering Committee.
As co-chairs, Magda and Pamela will use their extensive experience and profound expertise to work towards their shared vision of a world where everyone has access to the quality health services they need without financial hardship.
Meet Dr Magda Robalo
Dr Magda Robalo brings a distinguished career in public health and global development to her role as co-chair of UHC2030. With her extensive experience in health policy and advocacy, Magda has championed equitable access to healthcare for all, especially the most vulnerable populations. She has spearheaded successful initiatives in her current role as President and Co-Founder of The Institute for Global Health and Development and as former Minister of Public Health, Presidential High Commissioner for the COVID-19 response in Guinea-Bissau, WHO Representative, WHO Director of Communicable Diseases and Global Managing Director of Women in Global Health. Her leadership and strategic vision will undoubtedly propel UHC2030 forward in achieving its goals.
Meet Dr Pamela Cipriano
Dr Pamela Cipriano is an internationally recognised nursing leader. As a strong advocate for the nursing profession and resilient health systems, Pamela has been instrumental in shaping policies that promote quality and affordable healthcare services worldwide. She is the International Council of Nurses (ICN) President and a Professor at the University of Virginia. She previously served as Dean of the UVA School of Nursing, ICN’s First Vice President and as the President of the American Nurses Association. Her passion for improving health outcomes and fostering collaboration will be invaluable assets to UHC2030.
As we welcome our new co-chairs, we also extend heartfelt appreciation to our outgoing co-chairs, Gabriela Cuevas Barron and Dr Justin Koonin. Their leadership and dedication have guided UHC2030 through crucial times, uniting partners in advocating for tangible outcomes at the UN High-Level Meeting on UHC in 2023 and advancing the UHC agenda. We deeply value your commitment, engagement and energy in driving UHC progress, and we are confident in your continued support for the cause.
