A new health system framework for performance analysis
To help countries develop evidence-based health strategies to accelerate progress towards universal health coverage, including in COVID19 recovery and renewal efforts, countries need a clear understanding of the drivers of health systems performance.
WHO and the European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies have now launched Health system performance assessment: new framework for policy analysis. This builds on work with UHC2030’s Health Systems Assessment technical working group.
The new HSPA for UHC framework provides a conceptual orientation for analyzing the performance of health systems, which i) allows policymakers to analyze the impact of health systems bottlenecks on health systems outcomes and goals; and ii) enables more coherent and aligned presentation of results from different health systems assessments, supporting harmonization of different assessment efforts.
Register here for the webinar on 24 June to launch the book: Health system performance assessment: a framework for policy analysis.
Update: The launch brought together high-level country health decision-makers and health system experts to elaborate on the policy relevance of the framework and to discuss strategies to increase the application of performance assessments in decision-making processes. If you missed it, you can watch the recording here.
